Kaytee Combo Chew Apple Wood & Puzzle

The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because I don't know what was used to dye the puzzle pieces and the description doesn't say (I didn't even consider that before I bought it, and I wish I had tried to contact the company first to make sure it isn't paint). But my gerbils love them, and they seem perfectly fine so far. I'm glad this tells me exactly what kind of wood these sticks are made of because the majority of wooden chews only say "natural wood" (what other kind of wood is there?) and I've seen so many that claim to be safe but aren't -- for example, I bought some wooden toys from another site that claimed to be safe but turned out to be made from pine that wasn't even fully dried and still smelled like pine resin, so I couldn't use them. But my babies love chewing anything made of apple wood. So my only complaint is that I wish there was more information in the description about the puzzle pieces, but otherwise, it's overall a good purchase that was worth the money. But until I can confirm about the puzzle pieces, I'll probably be buying only the sticks from now on, just to be on the safe side.
